Custom Manufacturing by Amuneal: Retail

C21 Editions

Client: C21

Design: C21 & Amuneal Manufacturing Corp.

Location: New York, New York

For this new luxury brand, Amuneal collaborated with the client's in-house team on the fixture design and the development of very unique architectural elements.  Amuneal designed, produced, and installed a series of fixtures, showcases, and architectural elements, fabricated from mirror-polished stainless steel, polished brass, patinated brass, and steel.

The client needed flexibility in the designs for both merchandising the products as well as for using the space for events. Amuneal designed that flexibility into every fixture: from a mirror-polished POS system that converts to a bar... to a series of 10-foot tall shelving systems that convert easily to hanging displays or that can be "broken down" to form 2 smaller shelving displays and/or display tables.

The unexpected mix of materials and the flexible but luxe design of the fixtures and architectural elements creates a layered, modern, and fashion-forward space.

Ippolita

Client: Ippolita

Design: Jeffrey Hutchinson Associates

Location: Various locations around the U.S

For these shop-in-shop locations, Amuneal partnered with the architect and the client to develop unique installations that blend traditional case-line vitrines with the artisanal sensibility so deeply ingrained in the client's brand.

Additional visual interest comes from the architectural tension created by changes in elevation and vitrines that appear to float on hand-carved bronze frames. The success of these installations required us to draw on those parts of Amuneal that so often define us... highly engineered parametric modeling alongside hand-fabricated sculptural elements. Ippolita's jewelry is celebrated in these dynamic installations that blend a variety of materials including bronze, walnut, stone, glass, and quartz crystals to create a curated view of the products. These fixtures were A.R.E. award winners at the  A.R.E Design Awards in Las Vegas.

Location: Various Locations throughout the U.S.

Even before Coach had a name for their new luxury brand, they had a vision for how high-end finishes, artisanal influences and razor-sharp detailing would coexist to create a luxe yet welcoming space. We worked to quickly produce dozens of samples using a variety of materials and processes before landing on a set of chosen materials and finishes. The exploration and development process resulted in Amuneal fabricating these free-standing and shop-in-shop installations in the US and abroad.

My Suit.com

Client:   My Suit.com

Design: Unspace

Location: New York, New York & Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The store, which offers its clients the ability to customize nearly every aspect of their garment  (including thread color, button style, liner design, etc.)  needed to showcase these options in a way that would add value to the sales process. The hand-finished character of the surfaces, offset by the crisp and monolithic design of the fixtures was a perfect fit for this tailored space.

Inspired by displays from the American museum of Natural History, the designer sought us out to engineer and fabricate these focal elements for this unique men's clothier. Fabricated from a hand-patinated steel, bronze and UV bonded glass, our illuminated showcases and multi-media fabric bar help to highlight the flexibility and options offered by the client, in an elevated yet playful manner.

Cole Haan

Client:   Cole Haan

Design: Roman & Williams

Location: New York, New York

After working with the designers on several hotels, we were excited to partner with them to work on this retail design. The project was envisioned as a prototype for Cole Haan's next generation of stores and needed to incorporate a scalable design for future locations without forgetting the practical applications of retail standards. Ultimately, Amuneal helped to inform the final materials and fabrication approach and was responsible for designing and fabricating the entire perimeter system as well as the freestanding fixtures package.

To add to the rich texture to the interior, we applied custom patinas to machined steel and the natural woods.  We hand-painted the bronze and aluminum elements to create visual warmth. In addition to the fixtures and furniture, we also produced a family of visual merchandizing lifts and risers for the project. These small, but powerful elements showcased the mechanical references celebrated in the overall design while introducing another layer of polish and interest to the space.

Lucky Brand Jeans

Design: Lucky Brand Jeans & Amuneal

Location: Various Locations Throughout the U.S.

For this special flagship project, we worked with the brand's in-house design team to create a selection of wood and metal finishes unique to this oceanside location. Inspired by the weathering effect of the sea, we created a palette of materials and finishes that influenced the final design of each freestanding and perimeter fixture. Inspired by driftwood, the wood furniture, shelves and platforms were constructed from a weathered wood, enhanced by a natural patina, highlighting the tonal colors of the wood. We fabricated many of the metal elements from solid zinc to achieve a natural salt spray patina evoking the color and texture of garden furniture long exposed to the elements.

Coach Mens

Client:   Coach

Design: Coach

Location: Various Locations throughout the world

Inspired by their heritage of craft, we collaborated with Coach's internal design team to develop a material and fixture vocabulary for their new Men's brand. Working in iron, mirror-polished nickel, white oak, expanded steel and cast aluminum, the unique finishes, details and textures enhance the layered visual interest in the space. For the 11' feature table, we built special tools to recreate the types of signature marks found on vintage leatherworking tables. To lend authenticity to the elements, evidence of process became an important aspect of the design. The cast aluminum hooks on the belt rack maintain the seam lines from their patterns, adding nuance to their character.

Harley Davidson

Client: Harley Davidson

Design: Amuneal Manufacturing Corp.

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Amuneal was chosen as a collaborative partner for the design and fabrication of the retail environment for Harley Davidson’s 5,000 sq ft Museum Shop. Staying true to the heart of the brand we integrated natural materials and reclaimed items to create an open space with a sense of heritage and discovery.

The 40’ long t-shirt wall displays over 4,000 shirts, each packaged in clear plastic tubes with color-coded size indicator caps. The design of this fixture influenced the packaging of the product, provided a great solution for their inventory, and created an interactive feature for the Customer.

Fresh

Client:  Fresh

Design: Mapos

Location: Various Locations throughout the U.S

This award-winning project began as an investigation by the brand's founders. They were inspired to provide their customers with a more informative and engaging environment. The project required a complete renovation of an existing location which allowed for a complete reinvention of their product presentation.

Working with the brand, the architects, and the GC, we helped to inform material choices, fabricate the fixtures and furniture, and install the entire project in 6 weeks... all without compromising a single detail. From the monumental communal table, to the custom counter stools,  to every piece of articulated visual merchandising, Amuneal engineered, fabricated and installed each element with an understanding that every ingredient was equally critical to the success of the overall product.
